In a low-scoring Wisconsin High School Field Hockey Association game on Tuesday, October 3rd, the University School field hockey team lost to University Lake School 1-0 at University Lake School in Hartland.
Neither team was able to generate many good scoring opportunities. The Lakers took just four shots on goal and scored on one that was the result of a penalty corner at 19:00 of the first half. Katie Hall hit a straight strike from the top of the USM circle for the game winner.
The Lakers kept the ball in the midfield and in the USM end for a good portion of the match. So the Wildcats’ season-long scoring woes continued. USM had a mere six shots on Rachel Soley, ULS’s goalkeeper. A couple were taken in close, but none were effective. As a result, USM’s overall record fell below .500.
“That just stunk,” said Andrea Burlew, USM’s head coach. “Our game did not go well; we were outplayed.”
As a result of the loss, USM is now 7-8 and 6-5 in the Wisconsin High School Field Hockey Association. The Wildcats play Divine Savior Holy Angels in a Wisconsin High School Field Hockey Association game at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 7th at USM
