Volleyball vs. Messmer

The University School girls’ volleyball team won its third consecutive match by defeating Messmer 3-0 in a Midwest Classic Conference match at USM on Monday, October 2nd.

For the third straight time, the Wildcats had little difficulty in arriving at the match victory.  They won the first set 25-6.  They took the second set by a score of 25-10; they then finished off their visitors with a convincing 25-5 score in the final set.

Sue Baker, USM’s head coach, described the match, “It was another match like our last two. We didn't get much competition, but I’m not happy with how we played: too many errors on our part. You can get away with that against teams like this, but you cannot get away with it against good teams. I think we kind of sat back tonight and never really got into a flow. We have now concluded the conference portion of our season, so now we really need to focus on getting better each practice and game as we prepare for regionals. We are not sure what Sheboygan County Christian will bring on Thursday night, but we know it will be better than what we have seen recently. We need to focus on getting better each practice and bring it Thursday night when we honor our seniors on Senior Night.”

The Wildcats’ overall record is now 14-4, and they concluded their Midwest Classic Conference competition with a 6-2 record.  USM plays Sheboygan County Christian in a non-conference match at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 5th at USM.
